The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) had implemented changes as per the recent update in the rules related to wills and inheritance. As per the recent updates, muslim expatriates can now make Will to distribute assets as per their wish. Below are general points to consider when writing a will with ADJD:
The ADJD handles wills and inheritance matters within the United Arab Emirates. The regulations are primarily designed for Muslims, as non-Muslims in Abu Dhabi often have the option to choose to distribute assets as per their desire.
Will Registration:
The ADJD provides online service for registering wills. Testator can join video conference at the appointed time for the verification and registration of Will online. This registration can help ensure that the deceased's wishes are carried out according to the specified terms.
The Registration fee for Single Will is 950 AED and Mirror Will is 1900 AED. Once payment is made, ADJD shall schedule the appointment for video conference between testator and ADJD officer. Once call is concluded, the Will gets registered with ADJD and the electronic copy of the final attested Will shall be shared via email.
In Summary, seeking legal advice is highly recommended when drafting a will. Legal professionals can help ensure that the document complies with all applicable laws and addresses specific circumstances and wishes. Consulting with legal professionals who specialize in this area can provide up-to-date and accurate guidance based on the current legal framework.
